Producing goods within communities to reduce or remove reliance on imports.

Rather than importing goods, local manufacturing supports circular economies — where local materials are used first & waste is minimised. By producing things close to where they’re used, communities retain value, increase economic sovereignty, & strengthen local skills. The local economy can become a strong knowledge base to expand on – one local system can inspire the startup of numerous others.

Create Enabling Infrastructure

Finance: Set up local investment tools (e.g., community banks, credit unions, timebanks, local currencies).
Spaces: Co-create hubs, markets, & innovation labs where people can collaborate & experiment.
Policy: Work with local leaders to develop aligned values & standards amoung the people.
